The Top 5 Rockin' Things about Aspie Sibs!

Siblings of kids with Autism and Asperger’s face some pretty tough challenges.  Learning to deal with confusion, embarrassment, guilt, or jealousy for attention are just a few. However, research shows that the siblings of our spectrum heroes tend to have some super-powers of their own that their friends might not have.

Aspie Sibs tend to be:

1. Highly Resilient - think of how they must adjust their lives and learn to tolerate change and frustration much more than most sibs.
2. High In Self-Esteem -  growing equipped to be loving caregivers, to be understanding of differences, and advocates for those with a lesser voice, these sibs gain confidence caring for themselves and their sibs.
3. Highly Empathic - to understand difficulty we must sometimes experience it and in turn others feel heard and understood.
4.  Creative Thinkers - how will they solve today's sometimes unpredictable challenges.  With new situations can come new ways of solving problems.
5.  Crazy Funny - dealing with adversity in childhood can often build the best defense which can often be humor.  Laughing at the difficulties in our lives can often be the best medicine!
